AGIdeas Extend 2007–2008

AGIdeas Extend is a one day design master workshop program, held as part of AGIdeas. The ticket is unquestionably the most expensive thing I fork out money for every single year, but it's always, always worth it.

Chip Kidd, 2007
We were informed beforehand that we should read, or at least be familiar with the plot of Mr Kidd's novel, The Cheese Monkeys. Turned out that we were to re-design its cover. My solution for this brief was crude and literally cheesy — it was yellow and the letterforms were continuous like cheese melts; and those made the whole concept cheesy, pun absolutely intended. Good thing he liked it… solely because mine was the only one in colour; the others' were black and white due to a colour printer breakdown.

Patrick Thomas, 2008
The brief was to create a diacritic mark for a letter of our choice. I found this mineral water logo on a box in the studio and decided to make five marks instead of just one.
The design was screenprinted onto the back of recycled A3 posters.
